Razer Opens Public Pre-Orders for the OSVR Headset.

With a high demand for Virtual Reality hardware, there are not many headsets to fill that demand. Razer has an aswer that will fill both the developer's and the common consumer's demand. Open Source Virtual Reality, OSVR for short, is a "Hacker Development Kit" that allows anyone to use the tools available to them to make and use virtual reality.

Before Razer had opened the general public's pre-orders, they had released 10,000 units to pre-registrants who were allowed to access the ordering 24 hours before the public release. Those units sold out completely.

"Pre-order for the next batch of units is now available as production is stepped up to make more units available to meet demand," Razer said.

The OSVR was revealed at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas earlier this year. Razer has received the backing of Intel, Gearbox, LeapMotion, and a few others.

Pre-orders for the Razer OSVR Hacker Dev Kit 1.3 are now open, with the headset priced at $299.99. Hardware will begin shipping on November 23.
